Western Festival
Time: 11:00 – 1:00
Location: To the right of the North gate in front of cattle barns
Want to be a cowboy? Experience the sights, smells, and taste of the Old West at the Western Festival Saturday, March 9th, 11:00 AM – 1:00PM at the north gate grounds of Garrett Coliseum. Children ages 3-12 may participate in the cowboy competition. The first 20 children to sign-up on Saturday morning for the competition will receive a free cowboy hat and bandana! The cowboy competition consists of stick horse racing, cow chip throwing, dummy roping, hay hauling, and much more! Face painting, pony rides, and camp fire cooking demonstrations will also be available. The Western Festival is free to the public and is hosted by the Southeastern Livestock Exposition.
Cowboy Cook-off

Time: 4:30-6:30
THINK YOU GRILL THE BEST BEEF IN MONTGOMERY? Then we invite you to join the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association as we host the “COWBOY COOK-OFF” on Saturday, March 9th, 2013 from 4:30-6:30 PM at the Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery, AL during the SLE Rodeo and Exposition festivities. This event is made for any business, community group or individuals that love to cook BEEF! Teams of up to 4 individuals are encouraged to enter online at http://www.bamabeef.org/cowboy_cookoff.php. This event is free to enter and team awards will be given for the following:
- 1st Place, Steak Category
- 1st Place, Hamburger Category
- “Best In Beef” Overall
- “People’s Beef Choice” Award

Special Events Schedule:
Mutton Bustin’ – Thursday night after Saddle Bronc Riding (participants sign up on-site at the Little Boots Rodeo booth).
Calf Scramble – Saturday matinee after Tie-Down Roping (participants will be invited from the audience during the performance).
Steer Show Winners – Champion animals paraded in the arena following Team Roping on Friday night.
Showmanship Winners – Junior Beef Expo showmanship contest winners will be recognized in the arena following Team Roping on Saturday night.
NARF Awards – Event winners from the IPRA National All Region Finals will be presented with trophy buckles and saddles following Bull Riding on Saturday night.
