For the 2027 SLE Gives Back initiative, the
Southeastern Livestock Exposition and
Thousand Hills Cattle are partnering to support the
Alabama Sheriffs Youth Ranches by providing nutritious, locally-raised beef directly to their kitchens.
The mission of the Ranches is to provide Christian, family-style residential homes for Alabama's at-risk children and youth in an atmosphere where they may grow spiritually and physically into productive, responsible, and happy adults. Ranch youth (known as "Ranchers") ages 6-18 are provided with caregivers and a structured living environment where the children receive love, stability and a caring place to call "home." The Ranches are actual working Ranches and give our Ranchers an opportunity to learn and participate in livestock care, farm chores, and lawn care. Ranchers are taught responsibility and good citizenship by completing daily chores, participating in daily family devotionals, and pledging allegiance to the American flag. The children attend church and schools in their local communities and are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities such as youth groups, sports, and clubs.
Thousand Hills Cattle, Inc. works to support Alabama communities through a network of cattlemen and women across the southeast to provide a steady supply of beef to those in need. These donations include a variety of cuts of nutritious beef and a freezer to store this nutritious product safely. Thousand Hills Cattle, Inc. is funded entirely by private donations and strives to demonstrate the meaning behind Psalms 50:10, which says that God owns the cattle on a thousand hills. Thousand Hills Cattle, Inc. exists to help provide God's children with His cattle by giving hope and love to those who need it most, in the form of a quality supply of beef.
